I wanted to share with you some photos and some ways that your sign purchases helped kids on the other side of the world. We spent most of our time in a place called Kya Sands. Kya Sands is an informal settlement in South Africa near Soweto where approximately 20,000 people live in makeshift homes. There is no formal electricity (people get electricity but it is extremely dangerous, as they are working with live wires that are run from a nearby source.) There is also one water spicket where people get water. Two men, who are incredibly amazing by the way, created an organization called Build the Future. This organization provides a preschool to the settlement of Kya Sands (a second location is in the works in Durban.) The teachers and students are from the settlement. This preschool prepares children to go to primary school when they otherwise wouldn't have the chance. We were able to help with lessons, fix things around the playground, help with lunches. We spent a day at Rise Against Hunger to pack meals and delivered them to the settlements. We provided kits and education to women in the settlement on pregnancy and delivery since they do not have access to hospitals or doctors. This trip was absolutely incredible and Andrew and I thank you for your support.

AuthorI love all things creative! I'm happiest when I'm making signs, food, comfy spaces and big pretty dinner tables. I have the sweetest family. I love plants, camping, live music and trying new things. I love cozy movie nights and snacks. Archives
