Last night I took a couple recipes and added them together to make this tasty side dish. I love fall comfort foods and this one is a recipe that we'll save and use as a staple in our home. I hope you enjoy!
I have a confession to make. I avoid the news. At all costs. The sound of the news is almost physically painful for me to listen to, even if it's just the weather. I've always believed that the news has had a job to do, and that job is to instill fear in as many people as possible. To make us believe that no one is safe ever, from anything. Even after the events of El Paso and Dayton and countless others I still believe the message of fear is a lie. Last year I witnessed the shootings at 5/3rd Bank in Cincinnati and it was horrific, seeing scenes from a shooting like this is truly devastating. But one thing I refuse to do is allow the actions of a few make me afraid. For every one shooter there are countless people who run toward the gun fire to rescue. People are far more compassionate, loving and helpful than we give them credit for and I think it's best displayed after a tragic event. There is no way for us to control the actions of others, but what we can do is lift each other up. We can refuse to allow fear to stifle us. I know that might be easier said than done, I get why these events are terrifying. Just try not to let them keep you from living your life. Try not to let them compel you to argue with people on facebook about your political views. Don't let them change who you are. The events in Dayton hit close to home. My husband works there, graduated college there, and he used to frequent the Oregon District. He has many friends and family who still do. Dayton, El Paso, and every place who has seen this type of horrific tragedy, we love you, and we stand with you.

I had the coolest request for custom signs this week. An old friend from high school is now a realtor and she gives handmade signs to each of her client's at closing. She commissioned me to start making signs for her to give and it's been so fun to come up with new design ideas. I am open to suggestions for new sayings, what would you love to see as a sign for a new home?
This one is an absolute favorite! You will not be able to stop eating it!
Someone please tell her to stop growing! This is Maguire's first day of first grade and her last day of first grade. We made the "live love teach" sign for her teacher as a gift. I loved this gift idea and wished I would have caught on to it sooner to offer it as a product in the shop! I will definitely be doing that next year.
I love all things creative! I'm happiest when I'm making signs, food, comfy spaces and big pretty dinner tables. I have the sweetest family. I love plants, camping, live music and trying new things. I love cozy movie nights and snacks.
